Ryedale

Ryedale is a popular tourist resort and flourishes year on year; its position between the historically important and medieval York and the heritage coastline around Scarborough underlines its importance.  The foothills of the North York Moors National Park are within Ryedale adding further character and popularity to the area.

There are many attractions to enhance a great day out around Ryedale, some suggestions include:

Ryedale is a predominantly rural area covering some 575 square miles and geographically, is the largest district in North Yorkshire.  Ryedale is rich in agriculture, occupying a relatively central flat plain encircled by the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the south west, the Yorkshire Wolds to the south east and the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park lie to the north.

The district population of 51,000 is concentrated in the twin towns of Malton and Norton, where the administration centre has been established.  Other notable settlements include Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.

Its economy thrives on agriculture, food and tourism.  Notable tourist attractions include Eden Camp, the wartime museum; Ryedale Folk Museum and Flamingo Land, the family fun theme park.
